PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
2024 ABOR President
Jason Hodges
Dear Members,
I hope this edition of the Aspen Realtor finds you enjoying the beautiful, second to none, Colorado Summer with your family, friends and clients.
You have should have received your “Membership Satisfaction Survey” via email by now, and I hope that you have taken 5 minutes to respond as we really want to know what you are thinking with the recent changes to our industry, and the value provided by your local, state and national REALTOR association(s). It will help us to evaluate where we are, and to set a strategy for your success heading into 2025. If you haven’t taken the time, please click on this link to participate now (https://cvent.me/2QGBO1).
FREE CLASS REMINDER: Throughout 2024, NAR is making the popular Accredited Buyer's Representative (ABR®) designation course available to REALTORS® at no cost: become.abr.realtor.
ABOR is in the process of planning a Community Forum where we will present an independent study on the Economic Impacts of Short-Term Rentals to the Roaring Fork Community. The author of the report, Jack Greacen of AEG Policy Advisors, will be presenting the information. ABOR is planning to invite all of the local chambers of commerce, city councils, the real estate community and all interested homeowners & stakeholders. Please plan to attend this informative presentation on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at the Hoffmann Hotel in Basalt from 3:00 – 5:00pm.
I would also like to take the opportunity to thank you for voting in support of ABOR’s 2025 Board of Directors via the email that was sent to you recently. Each year the nominating committee strives to create a balanced board of leaders based on geographic area, years in business and firms to represent your best interests. Once again, the committee focused on nominating experienced and knowledgeable agents to serve during this time of change to the industry. It’s been an interesting year! While I’ve thoroughly enjoyed serving as your president in 2024, I am excited to hand over the “gavel” on December 1st to the extremely competent and capable Mark Lewis of Aspen Snowmass Sotheby’s.
“In any given moment we have two options: to step forward into growth or step back into safety” – Abraham Maslow. In my years of service to our MLS and Board or Realtors, I’m constantly amazed by the involvement of Realtor volunteers, from all over the country, focusing on the real estate industry, and laws that dictate our business practices. They have elevated our profession, our communities, and allowed us to advocate for homeowner and independent contractor rights when and where needed. Many thanks and respect to all of you who have been a part of this incredible evolution process and for helping us all “step forward”.
In conclusion, please take time to familiarize yourself with the changes to our industry so you remain the industry experts. The practice changes are detailed here and clarifying information is available in NAR’s FAQ on facts.realtor.
Cheers,
Jason
