2023 ABOR President
Melissa Temple

Dear Members,

I hope you are all having a fabulous summer!

I want to outline a hot topic at ABOR. We have been receiving lots of inquiries about the proper use of the In Search of (ISO) feature and communications on our B2B system. I would like to encourage and remind all ABOR members to please be conscientious about messages to your fellow Realtors.

Do NOT use the term “pocket listing” or “off market” as it is in violation of the Clear Cooperation Rule – mandated by the National Association of Realtors to ensure that clients’ best interests are served,

We are in the process of reviewing the B2B rules. A few of the ideas that are being discussed and considered: to create a “format” for ISO for the members to use to clearly define the search, to set up a special email category in MemberClicks for ISO’s, one that you can opt in or out of and to require an Exclusive Buyer Contract to send out an ISO message.

Your input and suggestions are welcome while we are in the process of working to improve our communications. The B2B system is a favorite benefit to the membership of ABOR – so please help us help you in your business practices by using the tools professionally.

ALSO, we really need your help to achieve ABOR’s 2023 Realtor Political Action Committee (RPAC) goal of $22,080. We are currently at $11,543.00 so we have some work to do. RPAC literally protects your business interest and fights to protect private property rights at the national, state, and local levels. It has become more and more important to our industry with many outside forces attempting to disrupt the real estate industry. PLEASE CLICK HERE TO CONTRIBUTE TODAY.

The National Association of Realtors is in the process of producing an unbiased study of the economic contributions and workforce housing impacts of short-term rentals (STR’s) and STR regulations in the western mountain resort areas including Pitkin County, Summit County and Teton (WY/Jackson Hole) The study is intended to help Realtor members understand and communicate the impacts of STR’s and STR’s regulations to local decision makers and the public.

I would like to thank the Brokers and their office managers who attended the recent Broker Forum featuring Adorna Carroll. It was very beneficial to all who attended. A few interesting statistics that were shared: MLS Users have increased by 5% in the past 5 years, the number of Member Office Locations have increased by 9% in the past 5 yrs. And that the 7 largest Real Estate firms have 57% of ABOR members.

Our 2023 Scholarship fundraising events are being produced now and we hope you are planning to attend one of ABOR’s biggest events of the year.  We just awarded $61,000 to 25 deserving students in the Roaring Fork Valley so these events help us to replenish the scholarship funds year to year. The golf tournament on 9/12 is already almost sold out. If you are not a golfer, please mark your calendar for the preparty on Sept 11th @ the Snowmass Athletic Club from 5:00 – 8:00pm.

There is a lot that goes on at the Association to benefit our real estate community so please show gratitude and respect to our hard-working ABOR staff. There is nothing nicer than being thanked or told you are doing a good job, and our staff are the best!

Cheers,

Melissa
