NAR Submits Comments to DOJ, FTC

NAR submitted comments to the Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission regarding potential updated guidance about collaboration between business competitors and how that could drive innovation.

President Kevin Brown’s letter to the agencies maintains that the MLSs are among the most important examples of procompetitive collaboration in the real estate market.

The comments further underscore that MLSs help provide seller exposure, reduce search costs for buyers, support a level competitive playing field among brokers of all sizes, and ensure equal access to reliable property information.

In the letter, NAR calls for updated guidance and encourages the DOJ and FTC, which have long recognized MLSs as procompetitive, to reaffirm that sharing factual data supports competitive markets.

House Passes Most Significant Housing Bill in Nearly Two Decades

The U.S. House of Representatives passed an updated version of a bipartisan housing package aimed at boosting supply and improving affordability.

From the beginning, NAR has strongly supported this sweeping legislation.

Specifically, this amended bill provides communities with new resources and best practices to modernize zoning and boost supply, streamlines federal permitting and expands financing options for manufactured and rural housing. The bill also modernizes key programs like CDBG and HOME to strengthen local housing investment, improves credit access for home buyers and helps ensure veterans take full advantage of their VA home loan benefits.

Rent Control, Opportunity Zones, Broadband and more!

Fighting Rent Control in New York and Massachusetts

NAR made its members’ voices known on rent control battles in New York and Massachusetts.

Identifying Qualified Opportunity Zones

As states begin the nomination process for new Qualified Opportunity Zones (QOZ 2.0) July 1, NAR is encouraging members to work with their state and local associations and governments to help identify those zones.

In addition, with QOZ 2.0 launching Jan. 1, 2027—and the current program remaining in place through Dec. 31, 2028—there will be an overlap period when investors may have a choice between the two programs.

Use NAR’s comparison chart to understand key differences.

Expanding Broadband Access
The U.S. House approved several broadband-focused bills aimed at expanding high-speed internet access, an effort that reflects sustained NAR lobbying.

One measure intended to protect federal funds and investments has already been signed into law.

New Affordability-by-Income Tool

How well do the homes available for sale in your markets match what buyers can afford?

The Listing-Income Alignment Score, introduced jointly by NAR and Realtor.com, measures affordability by income bracket.

A score lower than 100% indicates homes are skewed toward higher price points, leaving fewer options for entry-level and middle-income buyers.

Across the country, the alignment score reached 74.9% in March 2026, up from 66.7% one year earlier, but still well below the pre-pandemic baseline of 84.4%.

Look for the Listing-Income Alignment Score as part of NAR’s Metro Market Statistics Dashboard.

Realtors Valuation Model Now Available in Cribio

Broker Public Portal (BPP) and Realtors Property Resource® (RPR®) are collaborating to make the Realtors Valuation Model (RVM®) available within BPP’s consumer search platform, Cribio.

RVM® uses MLS listing data, off-market MLS data and publicly recorded sold data to generate an estimated property value.

The integration allows MLSs and brokers to provide consumers with home-value context inside an industry-owned search experience while helping REALTORS® stay connected to pricing conversations.

In participating markets, it will be displayed on eligible off-market properties, subject to MLS permissions and won’t replace MLS-sourced listing prices on active or on-market listings.
