2025 ABOR President
Mark Lewis

Dear Members,

What is RPAC and Why it Matters to You!

The Realtor Political Action Committee (RPAC) is one of the most important tools we have to protect our business, our clients, and the real estate industry as a whole. By pooling together voluntary contributions from Realtors across the country, RPAC helps ensure that lawmakers at every level—local, state, and federal—understand and support real estate–friendly policies.

RPAC is nonpartisan. It doesn’t support one party over another. Instead, it supports candidates who understand the importance of property rights, homeownership, and a healthy real estate market. This makes RPAC one of the most effective advocacy organizations in the country.

Here are just a few real-world wins Realtors have achieved through RPAC support:

  • Mortgage Interest Deduction (MID): When Congress considered eliminating or reducing the mortgage interest deduction, RPAC fought to protect it. The MID is a cornerstone of tax benefits for homeowners and helps keep housing affordable, directly benefiting buyers, sellers, and Realtors.
  • 1031 Like-Kind Exchanges: These tax provisions are critical for commercial and investment property transactions. RPAC helped preserve 1031 exchanges, allowing investors to reinvest in real estate and keeping those transactions—and commissions—flowing.
  • National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP): Without flood insurance, millions of properties would become unsellable. RPAC advocacy has ensured the program’s continuation, protecting home sales in flood-prone areas.
  • Independent Contractor Status: Most Realtors value the freedom of being independent contractors. RPAC has fought legislation that threatened to reclassify Realtors as employees, preserving our flexibility and autonomy.
  • Access to Credit: RPAC has supported fair lending policies, pushing back against overly restrictive mortgage rules that would lock too many buyers out of the market. More buyers mean more opportunities for Realtors.

When you contribute to RPAC, you’re not just giving to a political committee—you’re investing in your business and your future. Every transaction you close, every homeowner you help, every property you list is impacted by policies made in Washington, your state capital, and your city council chambers.

RPAC is our insurance policy against harmful legislation and our pathway to policies that support property ownership and Realtor success. Together, we have a stronger voice and a bigger impact than we ever could individually.

Supporting RPAC is supporting yourself, your clients, and the future of real estate. Please Click on the QR code below to donate. Thank you for your understanding and support!

Warm regards,

Mark
