PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

pres

2023 ABOR President
Melissa Temple

Dear Members,

Snow, sun, snow, sun… must be off season!! But cheers to a stellar ski season!

The Aspen Board of REALTORS has been very busy interviewing students, planning events / education / MLS Shareholders meeting, attending state and national meetings, and setting up the year for success. I hope you are all planning to attend ABOR’s upcoming in person class “10 Things” – or as I like to call it: Ten BIG Things, by Colorado REALTORS favorite instructor, Scott Peterson, the legal counsel for the Colorado Association of REALTORS®. He will be covering Landlord/Tenant law changes, Procuring Cause (the slippery legal standard) Earnest Money Deposits and much more. Please CLICK HERE TO REGISTER
The Association owes a big thank you to our immediate Past President of the Board, Alexandra George as she has navigated the waters at Aspen’s City Counsel and continues to be working hard to create a balanced dialog through the formation of the committee “Aspen Deserves Better”. The committee is striving to ensure that all voices are heard at the table related to the many decisions made at the city of Aspen governance level. On that note I am reaching out to see if any of our best and brightest REALTOR members are available to volunteer for the following boards and commissions in the city. The following are the spots available:

  • Planning & Zoning: 4 Regular, 1 Alternate
  • Animal Shelter Advisory Board: 3 Regular
  • Board of Adjustment: 2 Alternate
  • Building Code Board of Appeals: 1 Regular
  • Commercial Core & Lodging: 2 Alternate
  • Grants Steering Committee: 1 Regular
  • Historic Preservation Committee: 1 Regular, 1 Alternate
  • Local Licensing Authority: 1 Regular, 1 Alternate
  • Kids First Advisory Board: 1 Alternate
  • Next Gen Advisory Board: 1 Regular, 1 Alternate

Thank you for your consideration of this important call to action.

ABOR has also kicked off the annual nomination process seeking volunteers for our own board of directors for the 2023 – 2024 year. If you have an interest, please let us know and remember that committee work proceeds election to the Board of Directors and is the ideal place to start for a multitude of reasons. If you are interested, feel free to call me to chat about what this involves.

I hope that you are enjoying the off-season and are re-charging your battery. Hope to see you at 10 Things on May 23 @ The Gant Aspen.
Cheers!
Melissa
